WITH LT PETER NORTON . NORTON WAS A NAVAL OFFICER STATIONED AT PORTLAND. HE RENTED THE LIGHTHOUSE WITH TWO OTHERS. NORTON WAS A DRAMATIST, ROSE WAS A POET SERVING IN HMS COSSACK. THE SINKING IF THIS SHIP INSPIRED HIM TO WRITE 'INSTEAD OF TEARS' PUBLISHED IN WARTIME HARVEST 1944. MARGOT FONTEYN VISITED THESE OFFICERS DURING THE WAR.
